To select Gyeongnam Youth-Friendly Companies, the province invited small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that were certified by public institutions in Gyeongnam. A total of 49 companies applied. After document reviews and on-site inspections, 13 companies were selected as Youth-Friendly Companies.

In the document review, factors such as wage levels, employment creation achievements, corporate stability, employee retention rates, and self-development/welfare facilities were evaluated. During the on-site inspection, the companies' working environments were assessed, along with interviews with employees to examine amenities, welfare programs, and the implementation of work-life balance policies.

The Youth-Friendly Company initiative, launched by Gyeongnam Province, aims to support SMEs with excellent job creation for youth, organizational culture, and welfare benefits. The goal is to boost company morale, expand local job creation, and encourage youth to actively participate in job-seeking activities.

Selected companies will receive various benefits, including support for improving the working environment, subsidies for maternity leave replacement costs, additional employment incentives, and housing stability support for young workers.

Youth from Gyeongnam participated directly in the selection process, evaluating the companies. A group of 10 local youths joined the on-site inspection team, visiting companies to assess their facilities and interview employees to identify the companies young people would want to work for.

Gyeongnam Governor’s acting representative, Ha Byeong-pil, emphasized, "The role of companies is crucial in making Gyeongnam a place where young people want to live." He added, "Through the Youth-Friendly Company certification system, we will continue to provide various support to assist companies."
